Giant
Yields, Giant Fruit--Big Bertha is the Grand Dame of Sweet Bells! 72 days. If you like your peppers big and bountiful, Big Bertha is the one for you! A long-time favorite of Park customers and one of our own most highly-recommended varieties, this giant-fruited bell has been improved to bear even greater yields on medium-tall plants! You simply won't believe these massive, 7-inch-long glossy green bells, thick-walled, firm, and utterly delicious raw or cooked. The plants offer great coverage for the maturing fruit, and are vigorous all season, thanks to tolerance of Tobamo Po virus. We have given Big Bertha our Park High-Performer stamp of approval for both yield and flavor! Start seeds indoors or, in climate with short
growing seasons, outdoors at least one week after last frost. If
starting indoors, allow 7 to 10 weeks for the seeds to mature into
seedlings large enough to transplant safely. Set seedlings (or thin
direct-sown seedlings) 2 feet apart in full sun. If planting many
seedlings, space rows about 3 feet apart. Fertilize when the blooms
appear, and water well. Fruit is most nutritious if allowed to ripen on
the plant. |
